RHS girls split two games at OG

OAK GROVE – A break between games proved to be what Richmond needed to end Monday’s summer-league girls basketball games on a winning note, according to Spartans varsity coach Kaylee Vantrump and guard Adilyn Swope. After tumbling to Marshall 38-25 at Oak Grove High School, the Spartans cruised past Fort Osage 32-14 a few hours later at Oak Grove Elementary School. “We talked about what we needed to work on that (from) first game, which led towards us improving on those specific things in the second,” Vantrump said. “Obviously, with the break (between games), I just feel like, with us talking a lot more, it … (helped) us communicate and stuff on the court,” said Swope, who’ll be a freshman this fall. Inside shooting also helped Richmond cruise, Vantrump and Swope agreed.
