Commissioners approve new annex
The Ray County Collector and Assessor’s office’s plans of moving to a new location in Richmond has been approved, according to Ray County Assessor Linda Coleman
and Ray County Collector Julie Chowning.
An idea from 2020 is coming to fruition after steps from attorneys and approval from Ray County commissioners – all unanimously voting in approval of the offices potentially moving to Stonner Loop near Max Motors.
“I have a feeling the new annex will benefit our community in the cold months when taxes are due by using a drive-through window and better parking,” said Ray County Presiding Commissioner Billy Gaines. “It opens up offices to condense the county footprint.”
The long-time concerns surrounding the courthouse have been parking, accessibility and electrical, Coleman and Chowning said.
