Director reports progress at city parks
Richmond City Parks and Recreation Department is hitting the ground running, according to director Haley Williams.
A report to the Richmond City Council offered updates in several areas of the department, including new hires, projects, maintenance and future operations.

The parks and recreation department is now fully staffed as Brad Edwards has joined the parks and recreation maintenance department.
Project Updates
William reported progress on Richmond City Gymnasium is coming along, noting new air conditioning and diverters, window tinting, demolition of old floors, asbestos removal, concrete grinding and structural analysis of current concrete has been completed.
“Structural Engineer analysis recommended the current concrete floor needs extra stability above the tunnel, under the gym floor,” said Williams. “An action plan for this is currently being worked on.”
