King, Pugh get wins at MRVC East girls meet
CARROLLTON – Kaylee King’s win in the girls 110-meter high hurdles Monday at the Missouri River Valley Conference East Division championships in Carrollton gave her a chance to monitor her progress in the event.
“It’s definitely better than (it was at the) beginning of the year,” the Richmond sophomore said. “Not perfect yet, but it’s definitely better.”
King was better than the runner-up, Lexington’s Bella Morgan, by 1.1 seconds. Her winning time was 16.38. Morgan finished in 17.48.
King led the Richmond girls, who finished fourth with 85 points, by winning two individual events, and placing second in another. She won the triple jump by leaping 11.3 meters and was the long jump runner-up, leaping 4.79.
The Richmond girls won three total events. Junior Kaylee Pugh took the 100 in 13.04.
“I think it went well,” Pugh said. “I got a good start, and the wind pushing me a little helped a lot.”
