DOUBLE THE FUN
WARRENSBURG – Dayne Loftin is doing something this weekend he has never done: He’s competing in two events at state competition in track and field.
Loftin, who graduated recently from Richmond High School, is scheduled to run in the preliminaries of the Class 3 boys 110-meter high hurdles at 11:35 a.m. Friday. If he places in the top eight, he’ll run in the finals at 11:20 a.m. Saturday. He’s also slated to compete in the triple jump at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. All events will be at Jefferson City High School.
“It feels great,” he said. Loftin qualified by placing in the top four in both events at the recent Class 3 Sectional 4 meet at Warrensburg High School. He placed second in the 110s in 14.96 seconds – his third time to qualify for state in that event.
“It was a really good race,” Loftin said. “Felt like my best race of the season.”
The original results posted on the stadium scoreboard, however, stated Loftin had placed sixth. A correction was later announced.
