GAP gifts bicycles for Christmas
Having known Gap Assistance of Ray County (GAP) founder, Don Lake, for many years, I can vouch for his passion in serving and helping those less fortunate.
This Christmas season was no different as he set about creating a raffle for two youth to each receive a bicycle through the GAP program.
It’s just one small thing out of the many acts of kindness Lake pursues.
The GAP program receives no federal or state funding, yet has remained a large contributor to those less fortunate throughout the Ray County community since Lake founded the program 12 years ago.
“The community has been very nice to us,” Lake said. “We’ve been blessed from all facets of the community.”
A 501c3 nonprofit, the GAP program has a board of directors and relies upon the community for donations to keep it running.
The program distributes diapers, wipes, hygiene/ toiletry items and cleaning products to those who are in need. Distribution takes place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m. at Richmond United…
