Super Farmer brings FFA chapters together
With the goal of having fun and bonding, surrounding high school Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters joined together and hosted a “Super Farmer” event at the Ray County Fairgrounds last week.
Contests included hay stacking, land skis, sponge bomb toss, post driving, dizzy nail driving, culvert bucket race and tug-o-war.
“This was the second time we have tried hosting this event in recent years. It is an old tradition and used to be a qualifying event for people to participate at the State Fair. I am not sure when it started and stopped,” said Richmond High School (RHS) FFA Advisor Laura Allen.
“There isn’t a Super Farmer contest at the Missouri State Fair anymore either.”
After much competition between the 16 students, the results were in with Addison Burk and Emerson Rennison taking first place in girls’ team; Jake Cringan and Will Robinson won first place in boys’ team; and the “Full Send” Award went to Allison Coats and Sydnee Burnett, for going all in and trying their…
