Richmond netters sweep Lexington on Senior Night
On Sept. 21, Brett Terry got to do something he hadn’t done in his first two seasons as Richmond girls tennis coach: host a Senior Night ceremony.
The ceremony began that afternoon shortly before Richmond’s 9-0 Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division dual win over Lexington at Maurice Roberts Park. Like other sports, the seniors were escorted by family members. In this case, the seniors were Livia Cavanah, Hailee Green and Taylor McGlothlin. A fourth senior, McGlothlin’s twin sister Tatum, couldn’t attend, Terry confirmed Monday via email. Tatum McGlothlin’s picture, however, was displayed on a banner along with Cavanah, Green and her sister.
The event drew a crowd. It was “really cool just to see the community support,” Terry said.
“I think, in a small town, tennis definitely isn’t the most popular of things,” he said near the end of the dual. “But it’s cool to see people that maybe they don’t know the game very well, but they’re still wanting to support the girls…
