RHS holds off Orrick for v-ball win
When Jayden Allnutt and her fellow Spartans got a bit of a scare during the final set of their Sept. 7 road varsity volleyball match with Orrick, they knew what to do.
After taking the first two sets of the best-of-five match, 25-16, 25-13, the Spartans found themselves trailing 13-5 in the finale. Although falling behind concerned Alnutt, “I knew that, if we just took a breath, breathed about it and really focused, … we would come back in the end,” she said.
Richmond came back, winning 25-23. It was the Spartans’ first match win this season – and Cody Hogan’s first match win as a varsity volleyball coach.
The win was part of “a really good start to the season,” according to Allnutt.
“It really shows what we’re good at, … what our strengths are and what we really need to work on in practice. … I think that we’re going to have a good season,” the senior commented.
