RHS boys answer SCA loss with MRVC-East wins
Watching his Spartans during their 6934 Dec. 14 home loss to Summit Christian Academy was a reminder to Richmond varsity basketball coach Kevin Jermain that his young team is still taking baby steps.
“It’s very basic, what we’re asking them to do right now – … just the very basic,” Jermain said. “Nothing in particular, but very basic, fundamental things that we try to preach every day. We’re asking them to do those (things), and if we can get the very basic things down, we can move on to the next level.”
Jermain made his comments after what he called “a rough week.” That week included a 62-41 Dec. 12 road loss to Knob Noster. It was up to the Spartans to determine if they could “handle some adversity” like the losses to Knob Noster and Summit Christian, move forward “and figure things out,” according to Jermain.
Summit Christian figured out a way to start fast against Richmond. The Eagles opened with a 13-1 run and led 20-4 after one quarter.
