FIRST WIN Mackenzie Ketterman has her first win as Orrick’s varsity volleyball coach.
After opening Aug. 28 with a road loss to Penney of Hamilton, Ketterman and her Bearcats swept Maysville 3-0. Orrick claimed the Aug. 29 best-of-five nonconference road match 25-18, 25-22, 2519.
“The win felt great,” Ketterman stated Monday via email. “I am hoping we will get to experience that many more times this season.”
The Bearcats then fell 3-0 Aug. 31 at West Platte. They were scheduled to play Tuesday at Lathrop and then host Richmond Thursday.
Richmond was 0-2 entering the meeting. After opening with a 3-0 loss at Oak Grove, the Spartans got swept on Aug. 31 at home by Summit Christian Academy of Lee’s Summit. Summit Christian took the best-of-five match 25-14, 25-9, 25-13.
