Aggies prep for another ‘big old brute’ after homecoming win
Once again, Norborne Hardin-Central (NHC) varsity 8-man football coach Andrew Watson and his Aggies are about to face a bruising runner.
The Aggies (3-3 overall) will face Missouri Highway 10 rival Orrick (1-5) Friday night at Simmons Field. Orrick’s roster includes Jaxon Miller.
Watson considers Miller “one of the better running backs in the state,” even though Miller has been moved from running back to quarterback, because of Miller’s ability to scramble and rumble for yards. To prepare for Miller, the Aggies plan to “spend some extra time on tackling and making sure we’re going to be making good, solid tackles this week,” Watson said Monday on the practice field at Hardin-Central.
Teammates Denver Douglas and Brody Fifer would probably agree the extra time will be time well-spent, given what they know about Miller.
“He’s a big boy,” said Douglas, a Hardin-Central senior. “I mean, he’s going to be pretty hard to tackle. I’m not too worried about him, though.”
